The Ski Cross World Cup comes to Val Thorens on December 7 and 8

For the eleventh year running, the Club des Sports de Val Thorens is organizing the Ski Cross World Cup! For this year’s edition, a number of improvements have been made to make it even more impressive than before.

What is ski cross?

Skicross originated in the late 1990s in the USA, where the first Winter X Games were held.

The principle of skicross is quite simple: it consists of a race along a course made up of various natural or artificial elements such as moguls, banked curves or ski jumps.

Four by four, skiers race down the course as fast as possible. Only the top two finishers in each run qualify for the next stage, right through to the grand final!

Skicross has been an Olympic event since the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games.
